STUDENT STORE: We're happy to announce that we're now able to open the Store on alternate Tuesdays in addition to our usual schedule, beginning this week. The Student Store is scheduled to be open at lunch every day this week and after school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. The Store is run by parent volunteers so this schedule can be subject to change.

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS: Football: The FIYA 6th Grade Flag Football league does not offer playoffs or an official championship. However, the unbeaten on the field CCMS Panthers will be facing the unbeaten on the field The City squad this Friday, November 6 at 4:00 pm on the CCMS field, in the final game of the year. This is a battle of the only two remaining unbeaten on the field teams in the league.Girls Basketball:  Girl's Varsity and J.V. basketball tryouts will be held on Thursday, November 12 and Friday, November 13 in both the front and back gyms after school. Boys Basketball: November 12th is the 8th grade tryouts; November 13th is the 7th grade tryouts. Both 7th and 8th graders will tryout on November 19th. There will be an additional tryout on November 20th if necessary. 6th graders can sign up either November 12th or 13th; there are no final cuts and everyone makes a team. All tryouts will be in the back gym from 2:30 to 5pm.

PTSA MEETING: CCMS parents invited to our PTSA meeting. Please join us at the monthly PTSA meeting on Thursday, November 12th, at 6:30 pm in the Middle School Library. Come meet other parents, sign up for volunteer opportunities, and find out what is happening at school!

ASB PRESENTS “HAUNTED HALLWAY”: This is a family event; the more ghosts you bring, the creepier it will be. Haunted Hallway is suggested for monsters 8 and older. BOOKMARK CONTEST: The County of Los Angeles Public Library and Pentel Arts is having a bookmark coloring contest. Entry forms are available in the CCMS library and on the front counter in the Main Office. The deadline to turn in the form to the Main Office is Wednesday, November 4 before 8:20am.

PRIDE AWARDS: 6th grade awards will be presented on Tuesday, November 3, during PAWS; 7th grade awards will be presented on November 5th during PAWS; and 8th grade awards will be presented on November 10th during PAWS.

MOCK TRIAL: The first mock trial competition will take place at 4:15 pm at the Mosk courthouse at 1st and Hill in downtown LA on Wednesday. November 4, 2015. There will be one last practice for the prosecution team at 2:30 pm on Monday, November 2, 2015. Students will meet leave CCMS by 3:15pm; please meet in front of Room 3.

RED RIBBON WEEK: Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated Monday, October 26 - Friday, October 30th, 2015. This year's Red Ribbon Week Theme is... "Respect Yourself, Say No To Drugs, Alcohol & Tobacco!" Wednesday, Oct. 28th - It's Wear Red Day: Students & staff are encouraged to wear red to show their support of saying "NO" to Drugs, Alcohol & Tobacco, and of saying "Yes" to healthy lifestyles. Take the Anti-Drug Pledge: At Lunch, CCMS students can take the "Anti-Drug Pledge" and get their red hand print on our "Respect Yourself... Say No To Drugs, Alcohol & Tobacco" wall. Participating students will receive a bookmark and pencil as a prevention thank you gift.

MAGAZINE DRIVE: Prize Day and Bingo Ice Cream Party is Coming! On Tuesday, October 27 during lunchtime, qualifying students are invited to room 305 for their chance at Monster Money, Spin the Wheel and the Money Tornado. After lunch, qualifying students will attend the Bingo & Ice Cream Party in the Panther Plaza. All teachers will receive a list of students with permission to attend. Limo Lunch Winners: The winners of the Limo Lunch will ride in style to Dave & Buster’s on Monday, October 26. Students attending will have a 5 minute to early lunch pass.

CCHS presents Trick-or-Treat Carnival for children middle school age and younger in costume will take place from 6pm to 6:45pm. Come play games, get treats, win prizes!  GATE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION: The High School has decided that the gate on Harter near the football stands and the gate on Huron will not be opened on until 3pm on regular school days and 1pm on Wednesdays.  Please enter and leave CCMS through the front gate, the parking lot gate, or the Bike Path gate.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS: Help ASB raise money for the Susan G Komen Foundation by buying a CCMS Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirt. T-shirts are being sold at lunch in front of 2nd hall for $12, while supplies last. Wear your pink the whole month of October to support all those Pink Warriors.

PAWTIQUE:  The PAWtique will be open at lunch time. The PAWtique is now located at the walk up window by the office. Students can exchange their Panther Points for prizes. The PAWtique will be open every day during lunch time! 

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS:  The Cross Country teams dominated at their 2nd meet at Edward Vincent Park on Tuesday.  Our team came in first place division 2 Boys (6th grade and below) and first place in Division 1 Boys and Girls ( 8th and below).  6th grade boys swept the top 3 :  Eli Butler, Alex Claverie & Brett Klemes ( 1st, 2nd & 3rd) .  Sam Schutte came in 1st and Seiji Niwa came in a close 2nd for the boys.  Sophie Doumitt came in 2nd for the girls.  Go Panthers!

WEB: WEB leaders must get stamped before school, after school or at lunch by Ms. Paris for the meeting during PAWs. Attention 6th graders: there will be a lunch with your WEB leaders on today by 1st hall. 6th graders will receive a surprise from their WEB leader when they meet them!

MAGAZINE DRIVE/COOKIE DOUGH: Cookie Dough Is Coming Next Week! The cookie dough will be ready for pick up on Wednesday, October 14 between 1:00-4:00 PM in Room 2. You can pull your car up to the side of room 2 for easy access. All orders must be picked up by 4pm, as we do not have anywhere to store it. Parents: Volunteers are needed to help sort and distribute cookie dough on 10/14 between 11am-4pm. Please contact GinaMarie Walker at 310-460-8876 if you can help. Great Job CCMS for raising over $20,000! The prize dates and will be announced soon. You can check the display case by the office for the list of winners and prizes.

GREEN5 SUPERHEROES-THEMED POSTER CONTEST: The contest runs through TODAY, October 9. The top THREE winners will receive a Green5/Panther lunch container and bamboo utensil set. Winners will be announced at our first Green5 lunchtime raffle on Wednesday, October 21st. The winning posters will be turned over to our resident graphic artist Jim Shanman (aka "the 4th R") who will professionalize the designs produce copies to be distributed around the campus.

METRONOME CHOIR: Do you like to sing? Do you enjoy singing lower notes? Our new bass clef, or tenor choir, which is called "Metronome," is looking for new members. If you're interested, come by Room 1 on Tuesdays during lunch to check out this fun singing group!

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS: 6th Grade Flag Football: Look, you are going to eat next Tuesday night anyway. Why not eat and help support the Culver City Middle School 6th Grade Flag Football team? The undefeated team is hosting a fundraiser at Blaze Pizza on Tuesday night (October 13). 20% of all sales (excluding tax, gift cards and alcohol) will go to the team to help pay for expenses and equipment. If you have the time, please come by Blaze Pizza, 4114 Sepulveda Boulevard, Culver City (in the Culver Crossroads center) on Tuesday, October 13 anytime between 5:00 pm and 11:00 pm and bring the flyer (either on your phone or printed) and eat as much as you can. The flyer is located in the Main Office or on our website.

PTSA MAGAZINE DRIVE: Magazine Drive Update: There is an extra turn in date! Tomorrow, sttudents need to turn in their orders to their 2nd period teacher. Online orders must be submitted tonight before 9pm. Register your child at gaschoolstore.com (school code 2619526). There is another option for those who wish to participate in the Magazine Drive but do not want to buy or sell magazine subscriptions or cookie dough? For every $15 donation to the CCMS PTSA your child will receive a 1 item credit. Your donations can be combined with any magazine or cookie dough order as well, so if you are just 1 or 2 items short of your goal, then you have the direct donation option. Ms Vandever's 2nd period is in the lead with almost at 50% participation; followed by Ms. Snell's class. You still have time to purchase a magazine for your child's teacher.  METRONOME CHOIR: Do you like to sing? Do you like to sing lower notes? Our new treble and bass clef, or tenor choir, which is called "Metronome," is looking for new members. If you're interested, come by Room 1 every Tuesday (that's today!) to check out this fun singing group!

PTSA MAGAZINE DRIVE:  Magazine Drive Update: There is an extra turn in date! Tomorrow, sttudents need to turn in their orders to their 2nd period teacher. Online orders must be submitted tonight before  9pm.  Register your child at gaschoolstore.com  (school code 2619526). There is another option for those who wish to participate in the Magazine Drive but do not want to buy or sell magazine subscriptions or cookie dough?  For every $15 donation to the CCMS PTSA your child will receive a 1 item credit.  Your donations can be combined with any magazine or cookie dough order as well, so if you are just 1 or 2 items short of your goal, then you have the direct donation option. Ms Vandever's 2nd period is in the lead with almost at 50% participation; followed by Ms. Snell's class. You still have time to purchase a magazine for your child's teacher.  Teacher's Wish List: Magazine Website.  Parent volunteers needed.  If you are available tomorow September 30, between 8:15-11:00, please come to room 2 to get started. LUNCH FOR TODAY:  Philly Cheesecake Sandwich, Steamed Vegetables and Honey Fire Chicken,  Pepperoni Pizza; Fresh Garden Salad Bar, Milk. Lunch is $3.00.  To find out what is for lunch tomorrow you can follow the “cclunchlady” on twitter every day BEFORE school.  All food lines feature a selection of a fresh fruit & salad bar.  A variety of fresh made salads and sandwiches will be available.  You must take a minimum of ½ cup Fruit and/or Vegetables with every lunch.  Water is NOT included with your meal.  The cost for bottled is $1.00. Everyone must use their PIN when purchasing lunch – NO EXCEPTIONS!  Vegetarian Items available daily! 

 

BREAKFAST FOR TOMORROW:  Buttermilk Bar, Fresh Fruit, Assorted Fruit Juice, Variety of Milk.  Breakfast cost is $2.00.  Fruit & Yogurt Smoothies, Whole Grain Cereal, Fresh Fruit, Juice, String Cheese, Yogurt and Milk are also available.
