7th Language Arts SDAIE (Period 1) Assignments

Instructors
Term
2016-2017 School Year
Department
Language Arts
Description
In SDAIE seventh grade English Language Arts, we continue to work on reading, writing, speaking, listening and language development.  We have fully transitioned to the Common Core standards, which put more emphasis on reading and analyzing nonfiction, though we will continue working on reading and analyzing fiction both to increase our skills and for the love of the written language.  Our written work will be organized around three major units: narrative, informative, and argumentative.  We will work on ensuring that our writing is well organized and addresses the forms of each of these genres.  Additionally, we will emphasize reading strategies and comprehension skills through the Achieve 3000 computer program, Guided Reading groups and independent practice. We will also focus on being able to clearly express ourselves in formal and informal settings, as well as developing better listening skills. Students will be expected to read AT HOME, books of their choice, each week.
