Dear 5th graders:  You get to sleep in another day!  We will definitely be testing again tomorrow, Thursday.  Enjoy!

State Testing begins Friday, April 27th.  We are scheduled to continue through Friday, May 4th.  However, if all students complete the tests before that date, we will resume regular class.  Therefore, 5th grade students will not have to come to class for the next few days.  I will repost on Wednesday to let you know about our progress.  Enjoy the extra hour sleep!

 

 

Tribute to the Stars is the annual fund-raiser led by our own Culver City Education Foundation.  This year's event will be held at Unici Casa.  All proceeds from the event go to fund STEAM programs at ALL of our schools.           I am very happy and excited to have your child in Accelerated Math 6 class.  This year we have many concepts to cover including all of the 6^th grade standards as well as half of the 7^th grade standards.  We will be working diligently in class in order to master these topics. However, I’d like to offer parents additional options for skills practice at home.  IXL.com is an excellent source of math enrichment.  It is a math website that accommodates students of all levels from kindergarten to Calculus. What I love about IXL.com is that not only does it provide a variety of problems, but when a student answers incorrectly, a detailed explanation of how to solve the problem correctly is provided.

          A family membership cost $79 a year; however, I can get a class subscription for all of my students for $1350.  That comes to just $10 per student for the entire year!   In order to do this, I would like to ask for donations from parents to help me cover the cost of membership for math online enrichment.  If you would like to donate, please send the donation in an envelope by next Friday 9/29. (I understand that some families are unable to donate, so if you would like to donate for another child as well, that would certainly be appreciated!!!)
