Voicestra Choir (Period 5)

Course Description

Welcome to Voicestra 7th/8th Grade Choir!

Voicestra Choir is a performance class for students who have already sung in CCMS choir for at least one year. Students continue to further their knowledge and skills in proper vocal technique, unison and two, three, and four-part singing, music reading, notation, terminology, ear training, critical analysis, and music history. Students experience a varied repertoire in music in different languages, cultures, and stylistic periods. Voicestra students perform in three school concerts a year, and also sing in an outreach concert and a festival competition each spring.

Congrats to Voicestra--we had a fabulous day at the L. A. Opera seeing Puccini's "Tosca" at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion! You represented CCMS so beautifully and it was so fun to see such a dramatic operatic work!
