Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Welcome to Culver City Middle School and welcome to Mr. Grime’s sixth grade language arts class.  I look forward to working with you this year and hope that you find this to be a productive and fulfilling year.

The 6th grade English language arts curriculum is driven by the 6th grade English Language Arts Common Core State Standards that rigorously prepare students for success in our global economy and society.  6^th grade ELA CCSS will be addressed during the course of the school year. Students will learn how to read complex informational and literary texts closely and analytically; acquire vocabulary through various strategies; interpret figurative language; and write narratives, argumentative essays, and informational/expository essays in an organized and clear way. Students will also learn to express ideas precisely, integrating academic and domain-specific language into writing and speaking, use evidence to support a position, present information engagingly, comprehend and evaluate presentations, and have a control of the conventions of the English language, including grammar, capitalization, punctuation and spelling in their writing assignments.

Attached to the right is a form containing my class policies.  I will keep this form posted for reference.
