Promotion Picture Make Up Day - May 5th

Due to Monday's power outage, some of our 8th grade students were unable to take their promotion picture. Lifetouch has agreed to do one makeup picture day during 6th period on Friday, May 5th. Students who were affected by the outage will be able to take their picture during PE class. Students who were absent on Monday will be able to take their picture as long as they have a hall pass from their 6th period teacher. APPLICATION APRIL!!!

Deadline for applications to apply for AVID, ASB, Yearbook and WEB is Friday, April 21st! No late applications will be accepted. Students interested in applying for AVID, ASB or Yearbook will need to pick up paper applications from the front office. 7th graders interested in applying to be a WEB leader can click on the link for the online application. Bullying Prevention Workshop

The Culver City Julian Dixon Library will be holding a Bullying Prevention Workshop on Tuesday, April 25 at 4:00 PM for grades 4-9. This is an educational program presented by GET SAFE, an organization that has trained many in the community on this important topic. Information presented will include bullying behavior and how to recognize it; the reasons that bullying occurs; what to do if you are bullied; and the dangers of bystander behavior.

Attention current 8th grade students:

If you have a strong interest in science and engineering, you could spend the summer at Caltech! Applications for six-week Summer Enrichment Program are now open: http://csa.caltech.edu/SummerProgram

The application deadline is April 15.

Students will work in small groups on SKIES lessons that are interactive, hands-on, and inquiry-driven. They cover a variety of topics in environmental science and engineering.

It's a three year program: CSA 1 is science focused, CSA 2 is engineering focused, and CSA 3 is big project focused. Once accepted, students can come back for multiple summers.

If the student is currently in 8th grade, they can fill in the application. Please be careful in filling out their application. They are looking for well-researched, specific, and realistic project proposals. More application tips for students: https://skieslearn.com/go/e96c1p

Tuition is $750 for 6 weeks, which includes lunch. Need-based scholarships are available.

8th Grade Panorama Picture

The Panorama will happen on Monday, 4/17 during 1st period. Students should wear their black Culver City Shirt and should report to 1st period and wait to be called for the picture.
