Math Placement Test - Thursday Aug 27th at 2pm

Attention Students! There is an Accelerated Math 6 course test offering coming up Thursday August 27th. If you believe you have been misplaced in the regular Math 6 course, you will have the opportunity to take a test to see if you are eligible for the Accelerated Math 6 course. This test is only required if you believe you are currently misplaced. The test is scheduled for Thursday, August 27, at 2:00 p.m. on the CCMS patio. It is required that you register by emailing Kelley Wilcox at [email protected]. Please email me if you have any questions! Thank you. :)

Welcome to 6th Grade Math with Ms. Vandever!

Dear Parents and Students,


Welcome to Math 6 for the 2020-2021 school year! I know this is not how any of us imagined the start of a new school year, but I am so excited to welcome your child to my class. During online learning, we will be having face to face meetings every time we have class and we will get the year started with Panther Prep the first two days of school. Earlier this week, I sent a link to join google classroom to each of the students. Please check your student email and join our google classroom.  If for some reason you did not receive a link, please email me ASAP at [email protected] so I can send you the link.  Remember that google classroom will only work using a student's CCUSD email account.  

All classes at CCMS will start  on Thursday at 8:30am.  Please contact your 1st period teacher if you have not been able to log in to google classroom so that they can directly email you the zoom or google meet link for their class.  Your 1st period teacher can then help you get set up on google classroom for the remainder of the day.


The first two days of school are called “Panther Prep” and is an opportunity for the teachers and staff to show your child our expectations for them while they are students at CCMS. Your child will have the chance to virtually meet each of their teachers and classmates in these two days.  Hopefully this will help to answer some of the many questions that are totally normal at the beginning of a new school year!


I love teaching 6th grade math and I truly hope that your child will enjoy learning math this year with our class.  My favorite things about teaching 6th grade math is the new start that many students get when they are in middle school, watching students become more independent, and the math content that is practical and useful in everyday life.  


I look forward to working with you and helping your child to be successful this year!

Practice Packet for Accelerated 7 Test

Students who have earned an A in Math 6 at the semester and the third quarter may request the opportunity to take a placement test at the end of the school year to determine readiness for placement into Accelerated Math 7 in seventh grade.  The placement will be given after school on Thursday, June 1. Permission slips for the test are due no later than Friday May 26th.  Please note that this option will require additional study and preparation by the student as many of the standards required for Accelerated Math 7 are not taught in the Math 6 class. Please contact your child’s math teacher for additional information.
