Here is the Google Slides presentation for our Extension - Galapagos Finches assignment.
Please color the page according to the photographs in the presentation, and ask yourself - How do their beaks help them obtain their food? Also, what's different about C. Pallidus, the bird in the lower RH corner of the page?
NOTE: Don't hesitate to look up more photos of the finches if you have questions about their coloring. Please just double check on the source site to make sure you're looking at the finch you think you're looking at. (Google can be tricky sometimes.)
When you are done with your coloring, glue or tape it to the RH page of your next free double-page in your notebook. On the LH side, divide the page in half across its width. Divide the top half into two quarters, side by side.
In the LH Quarter, write "What I wonder." In the RH Quarter, write "What I notice." Now, record your wonders and notices in the appropriate quarter.
Now! Label the bottom half-page: Research Notes.
Read the story of the Galapagos Finches! Did anything you notice match the information given in the reading? Did it answer any of your wonders? Record your evidence from the reading in the "Research Notes" section.
Attached are the files for the reference photographs, the coloring page and the reading.
