Here is the last chapter of your 6th grade career, We will go over the fall of Rome in Class.

Chapter 14 only has three lessons not four Yeah. Lesson 1, 2 and 3 are due Thursday and Friday.

To My amazing 6th grade students, you are!!!!!

Just 34 days left of school and all of you are going to be 7th graders OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!

What is happening the week of May 9th to the 13th.

Well I hope that all of you had a chance to tell your parents at least one of the Greek myths that was told in class, not only told them but explained them too!

Well this week we will continue and complete Ancient Greece "A moment of Excellence," then take the open note quiz. We should be able to finish the DVD by tomorrow, then Segway into the Movie "Clash of the Titans, the original 1980 version of the mythical legend of Perseus and his quest to save his beloved Andromeda.

Before movie I will be introducing the role of women in Greece, the Underworld Hades with the Elysian Fields, Tartarus, the River Styx, the three judges, Charon the Ferryman and the god Apollo.

This movie will be the 4th myth about Ancient Greece. After these myths have been told you will be doing an assignment choosing one of the four myths to write about. Don't loses any of the notes that explain what we talked about. You will need them.

Mrs. Halloran has created a Common Core Greek test that will be given within the next two weeks. Don't worry about it I will make sure all will be prepared before we take it.

It will focus on

Governments Athens and Sparta

City States

Democracy, Oligarchy, Monarchy, tyrant, and Aristocracy

Compare and contrasting

The most excellent students on Planet EARTH!

Unfortunately there are only 41 day of school left. Man why does time go by so fast???????

In the meantime, we have to get thorugh two civilizations. Greece and Rome WHEW!!!!!!!

Well this week is going to be a breeze. I will be telling you as many Greek myths as possible before Wednesday and Thursday.

On Monday I will be telling all classes "How the Greek Gods Came To Be" On Tuesday and Friday I will be telling you 3 more stories.

On Wednesday and Thursday we will be in room 2 with the "Actors Gang," pertaining to Ancient Greece.

Attached to this homework page will be worksheets 6 - 12 Ancient Greek Annotation warmups. Worksheets number 1 to 5 are due Monday at the beginning of class.

AS FAR AS CHAPTER 11 AND 12 GOES, IF YOU DID NOT COMPLETE THEM I WILL NOT ACCEPT LATE HOMEWORK. BUT ALL OTHER IN CLASS WORK CAN BE TURNED IN with full credit, THIS CAN BE DONE EITHER DURING LUNCH OR AFTERSCHOOL.

Sorry for putting this information so late. It has been a long and tiring weekend.

Anyways, I hope and pray that for period 1, 3, 5, and 6 you were able to watch the 7 Ancient Wonders of the world video. We will finish the video and I will give you more information that was not present when I was gone.

After that we will also finish up Ancient Greece "Moment of Excellence."

After each DVD we will take quiz. Don't Worry I will bring all of up to date on what you missed when I was absent.

My wonderful, smart, talented and most awesome 6^th grade students, Spring Break is just one week away!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!

Oh my gosh, can you believe that 3^rd quarter is ending in one more week!!!!!!!!!!! This is insane, next Friday will be that last day of CCMS’ third quarter, and when we return to school there will be only 10 weeks of s school left.

WASHINGTON D.C. AND COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG

For those of you going to Washington D.C. and Colonial Williamsburg, during the first week of Spring Break I bet all of you are so excited, I am. This is going to be a most memorable trip ever. We leave on a Red Eye on Sunday and will return on Saturday next week. This is going to be an awesome learning experience.

For those kids not going, don’t fret parents, I am going again next year but, this next trip will most likely be Boston and New York. I open this trip to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Open enrollment will happen when I get back from this years trip. I will set up signups and registrations for all students and parents who would like to participate in the 2016-2017 Spring Break trip.

What’s happening the final week March 21^st to the 25^th, in Mr. Garcia’s 6^th grade social studies class?

Monday:

Any missed assignments that have not been turned in, by Monday your DEADLINE will not be accepted after 2:30 p.m. For students who are receiving below a “C”, I made a packet for you. This packet is due Monday so, please, please, please do your best and finish it up and turn it in on Monday so I can raise your overall class grade. After 2:30 p.m. I will not accept any more work.

We will be finishing up Time Life’s “Dynasties of Powers” quiz and correcting it. Remember if you want to watch the movie again, you can go to YouTube and search for “Dynasties of Powers,” and re-watch the video. Remember as always you may use all notes taken while you were watching in class.

Tuesday and Wednesday:

This will take me the entire period, but I will be telling you and Ancient Chinese horror story of “Wang Fu”, and for most of you it will be a story that you will always remember.

Thursday and Friday

We will be doing something fun by comparing the Chinese Dragon and Western Dragon. You will be coloring this day.
