End-of-Year Survey

 

 

A Sample Survey Project is shown below to spark your creative thinking and provide an exemplar for this assignment. Please do not copy this example, but use it to trigger some ideas of your own.

Write a summary of random vs. biased sampling. Then, write an example of a survey question and method of data collection that would be random and another example of a survey question and method of data collection that would be biased. (The PPT we viewed in class today is attached below.)

- Asking Mrs. B. to print you another copy of the original test so you can try it again.

- Meet Mrs. Bergonzi in Room 121 on Monday morning at our usual time (8:20am).

- Wear your bathing suit under your clothes, and dress in layers; it may be cold in the morning.

STUDENTS WHO NEED EXTRA HELP:

For students who need extra support in the Accelerated Math 6 class, the following options are available every week:

PAWs on Thursdays: This is typically used as practice time on our current concepts.  Students work on Active Practice that we started in class, but they feel they want more time on it.  I am here as support to students, and this is student-centered. Kids need to come to PAWs ready to work.

For the next few weeks during PAWs, students will be practicing Decimals concepts to prepare for the CC5 Defense.  They will be given choices of practice, and students will choose what to work on depending on the results of their original test. 

After School on Mondays: Typically Monday after school is a time for students to bring work to me that they are having trouble with and we can talk through it (so it caters a little more to students' needs at the current moment). This requires students to come to my class with an intention ("I was having trouble with this type of problem on homework."  OR "I got this problem wrong on the Goal Problems."). Focusing on the errors that students have made is a key approach to helping them build their understanding, so students should come to Monday after school help with samples of their work.

- Go over all old Goal Problems for this unit.  Pay close attention to the problems you missed the first time around and the corrections needed to be made.

- Review the problems you missed on HW.

- KNOW the vocabulary words: integers, absolute value, and opposites.

- Do some online practice of calculating with Integers and Order of Operations

The poster is due on Thurs/Fri, Sept 8 or 9.  You can make your poster on the computer or by hand if you write neatly.  Your mini-poster should be 8.5 by 11 inches (printer paper size).  See the attached handout for more details. This is your first project of the year so make sure that your work is high quality.  Career posters will be displayed throughout the classroom at Back to School Night. :)
