SBAC RAFFLE WINNERS: Congratulations to the following students who have won the week 2 raffle for striving to do their best on the test and their best behavior during testing: 6th Grade: Emely, Julianne and Christian; 7th Grade: Sergio, Elijah and Lizbeth; 8th Grade: Steven, Cara and Cindy. Please come to the Main Office to pick up your prize!

PANTHER PARTNERS JOG-A-THON: Prize day will be Friday, April 29 at 2:20pm in Room 305. Awesome Prizes: Every student that turns in a completed form with any donation amount will be entered into a drawing for a $20 gift card. There will be only one gift card winner. The PE class with the highest participation will receive a "5 Minute Early to Lunch Pass". If you raise $20 or more you will receive a FREE CCMS Jogathon T- shirt that you can wear during PE for the rest of the year! A donation of $90 or more will earn you an invite into the prize room to select your prize on April 29th. Some of the prizes include: 4 One Day Disneyland, Tickets Ifly for Two, Limo and Movie for 6 people, Ultrazone Laser Tag Party ,Universal Studios, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Pacific Park Wristbands, Knott’s Berry Farm, Nintendo 3DS XL, $50 cash Mani/Pedi for 4 friends, Medieval Times, Beats by Dre Headphones, IPad Mini, Go Kart World, H&M, Blaze, In-N- Out, Chipotle, Islands, Menchies, Jamba Juice, Grey Block Pizza, Hot Dog on a Stick, Subway, and so much more!

8TH GRADE INFORMATION: 8th Grade Promotion Pictures will be taken on Monday, May 9th during PE class. See The Latest News article for flyer. (Please dress nice (dressy dress) boys a collared shirt no T-shirts, please. The students will be holding a diploma. Flyers will be available online soon. We will also send flyers with no cap/gown attire in them to all students during PE next week. For those that are absent on this day, they are welcomed to come to Lifetouch National School Studios Inc., 20406 Earl Street, Torrance, CA 90503 office (310 542-5500)  on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 4-7 pm. This is our in-house retake day. No appointments, first come, first served; please sign -in as soon as you arrive to Lifetouch.  Formal: The Formal will be held at Vets Park on Saturday, May 21st from 5-8pm. Tickets are $25. Dress Code is strictly enforced. Grad Night: Grad night is held at Magic Mountain on Friday, June 3rd and only eligible 8th graders are able to purchase a ticket to attend. The cost of the ticket is $75 and it includes the entrance to the theme park exclusive middle school event, a glow in the dark souvenir, a 2 hr. buffet and transportation to and from the theme park. Tickets for both events can be purchased with cash or checks, made payable to CCMS. All tickets are sold on first come first serve basis. We only order a limited amount and they do sell out. Ticket sales will start April 27th at lunch in front of 2nd hall.

LIBRARY: The library will be closed for students’ use starting the week of, Monday, May 23, 2016, due to textbook collections. The library will be open for library books and textbooks returns, only. 8h grade home set of textbooks are due, Fri., May 27, 2016 during 2ndt period. 7th grade home set of textbooks are due, Wed., June 1, 2016 during 2ndt period. 6th grade home set of textbooks are due, Fri., June 3, 2016 during 2nd period.

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS: Boys’ Basketball: The CCMS B softball team completed their season undefeated with a record of 6 wins and 0 losses. Boys’ Volleyball: Practice Schedule through May 13: Mondays & Wednesdays - 3pm - 5pm back gym. Soccer: There is no Soccer practice on Friday, April 29th. 8th Grade Boys Varsity Team will practice on Monday & Wednesday 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 5/4: CCMS vs. ICEF Vista; 5/11: CCMS vs. City Charter and on 5/6 CCMS vs. La Tijera at Frank Parent School. 6th grade Boys Team: Practice is now on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The season for all 6th graders will end on May 18th. 7/8 Varsity Girls Team: Practice is Tuesday & Thursdays - 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Home game on 5/5: CCMS vs. Century Community. 6th grade Girls Team: Practice is Monday & Wednesday - 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please check the website for updates. Girls’ Club Volleyball: Girls who are interested in learning volleyball and who are going to try out for the MS VB Team we will be conducting practices. There is no practice on Thursday, May 9. Practice is from 3 to 4:45 pm in the Front Gym on May 9 and 12. Tryouts begin on May 16th. For more information you can contact Coach Salter.

YEARBOOK: For those of you still wishing to purchase a yearbook, they are available for $40.00 until the end of April (cash or check; made payable to CCMS), after that the price will go up to $45, cash only. Yearbooks can be pre-ordered in front of 2nd hall at lunch or from Mrs. Vielman in room 210; no personal checks will be accepted after April 29th. Yearbooks will be on sale while supplies last; so make sure you pre-order. Yearbooks will be distributed on Thursday June 2nd for those who pre-ordered; any remaining yearbooks will go on sale the following day at lunch.

CCMS STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK: CCMS will be celebrating Staff Appreciation Week from Tuesday, May 3rd to Friday, May 6th! Tuesday through Thursday we will have a barista & breakfast buffet. On Friday, the PTSA will treat the staff to a lovely luncheon. Please help us show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate their dedication and hard work! Here’s how you can help: Volunteer to deliver coffee to our staff Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday at 8am. We have a fantastic barista. We just need lots of volunteers to deliver the coffees. Provide breakfast foods Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday. Suggestion list is below or whatever your favorite breakfast dish is. Hint Hint: They love hot dishes! Please deliver by 7:30am. Provide desserts on Friday for the staff luncheon. Drop off desserts in the office any time before 11am on Friday. Cash donations are always welcome. Please leave them with Lelah Pealer in the office. Volunteers for breakfast (8-10 per day): Please drop off food at 7:30am. Helpers, please arrive in teachers’ lounge at 7:45-8am. Breakfast Food Suggestions: Any hot dishes (quiche, frittata, bacon, sausage, french toast, oatmeal, hash browns, breakfast casseroles, etc)
Hard boiled eggs, Cut Fruit, Donuts, Bagels with cream cheese, Fruit, Muffins, Croissants, Yogurt, Orange juice, Apples, Oranges, Bananas, Individual packs of nuts, Cereal bars. LUNCH FOR WEEK OF APRIL 29 – MAY 6: On Mondays, CCHS begins its lunch a little early so CCMS students need to make sure you get your food early as the cafeteria needs to be cleared and cleaned for the high school students. Doors will close at 12:15pm and the cafeteria will be cleared by 12:20pm. If you are inside by 12:15pm, you will be allowed to stay in line and get your lunch. Friday: BYO Burrito; Teriyaki Chicken w/Un-Fried Rice. Monday: Mac ‘n Cheese w/Steamed Broccoli & Aloha Roll; Orange Chicken w/Chow Mein Noodles. Tuesday: Crunchy Beef Tacos w/Spanish Rice; Buffalo Chicken w/Potato Wedges & WG Dinner Roll; Sausage Pizza. Wednesday: Baked Chicken , Mashed Potatoes & Dinner Roll; Mango Chicken with Steamed Brown Rice. Thursday: Spaghetti w/Meatballs & Garlic Breadstick; Chicken Mex-It-Up Bowl w/Rice; Lover’s Pizza. Friday: BYO Baked Potato; Teriyaki Chicken w/ Unfried Rice. Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza, Fresh Garden Salad Bar and Milk served daily. Lunch is $3.00. To find out what lunch is for tomorrow, you can follow the “cclunchlady” on twitter every day BEFORE school. All food lines feature a selection of a fresh fruit & salad bar. A variety of fresh made salads and sandwiches will be available. You must take a minimum of ½ cup Fruit and/or Vegetables with every lunch. Water is NOT included with your meal. The cost for bottled is $1.00. Everyone must use their PIN when purchasing lunch – NO EXCEPTIONS! Vegetarian Items available daily!

BREAKFAST FOR WEEK OF MAY 2: Friday: Fruit & Yogurt Parfait w/Cereal or MJM Cracker or Egg & Cheese Biscuit. Monday: WG Mini Pancakes or WG Muffin. Tuesday: Breakfast Mini Cinis or Breakfast Bean & Cheese Burrito. Wednesday: WG Pan Dulce (Concha) or WG Super Donut. Thursday: Cinnamon Rolls or WE Honey Bun. Friday: Turkey Sausage, Egg & Cheese Muffin or Cinnamon Coffee Cake. Assorted Cereals, Fruit Juices and Milk; Bagel & Cream Cheese available daily.
