BELL SCHEDULE CHANGE: Lunch will be extended on Friday, May 6 to 12:15pm; Transition period is 12:15 to 12:20pm; Book Pick-UP to PAWs is 12:20 to 12:25pm; Fun Friday is 12:25 to 12:45pm.

SBAC RAFFLE WINNERS: Congratulations to the following students who have won the week 2 raffle for striving to do their best on the test and their best behavior during testing: 6th Grade: Eden, Yahir, and Fiona; 7th Grade: Miranda, Joseph, and Raul; 8th Grade: Kristina, Nicole, and Lizette. Please come to the Main Office to pick up your prize!

CCMS PERFORMANCES PRESENTS THE LITTLE MERMAID! Join us in Robert Frost Auditorium on Friday, May 6 at 7 pm and Saturday, May 7 at 3pm and 7 pm. Tickets are $10 at the door. There is no ticket presale. Please come support your ALL STUDENT production of The Little Mermaid!

CCMS MUSIC DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER! If you like pizza and are free on Monday night, May 9th, between 5:00-9:00 pm, you can just show up ~ no flier necessary, just mention CCMS. 10% of your total purchase will go towards our music department fund. All proceeds will go towards our Music in the Parks festival and trip, which is happening this month.

8TH GRADE INFORMATION: 8th Grade Promotion Pictures will be taken on Monday, May 9th during PE class. See The Latest News article for flyer. Please dress nice (dressy dress) boys a collared shirt no T-shirts, please. We will arrive early for the zero period. The students will be holding a diploma. Flyers will be available online soon. We will also send flyers with no cap/gown attire in them to all students during PE next week. For those that are absent on this day, they are welcomed to come to the Lifetouch National School Studios Inc., 20406 Earl Street, Torrance, CA 90503 office (310 542-5500) on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 4-7 pm. This is our in-house retake day. No appointments, first come, first served; please sign -in as soon as you arrive to Lifetouch. Formal: The Formal will be held at Vets Park on Saturday, May 21st from 5-8pm. Tickets are $25; limited number of tickets available. Dress Code is strictly enforced. Grad Night: Grad night is held at Magic Mountain on Friday, June 3rd. TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT!  Box Tops for Education Contest: The student with the most box tops delivered to the office by May 31 wins 6 on-field seats at promotion!! Make sure your name is printed legibly.

LIBRARY: The library will be closed for students’ use starting the week of, Monday, May 23, 2016, due to textbook collections. The library will be open for library books and textbooks returns, only. 8h grade home set of textbooks are due, Fri., May 27, 2016 during 2ndt period. 7th grade home set of textbooks are due, Wed., June 1, 2016 during 2ndt period. 6th grade home set of textbooks are due, Fri., June 3, 2016 during 2nd period.

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS: Girls Softball: Congratulations to the Softball team for their great season. The Girls played in the finals of the Delphic League Championship. We are so proud of you Girls. Thank you for all your hard work. Boys’ Volleyball: Practice Schedule through May 13: Mondays & Wednesdays - 3pm - 5pm back gym. Soccer: 8 Boys Varsity Team will practice on Monday & Wednesday 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  5/11: CCMS vs. City Charter and on 5/6 CCMS vs. La Tijera at Frank Parent School. 6th grade Boys Team: Practice is now on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The season for all 6th graders will end on May 18th. 7/8 Varsity Girls Team: Practice is Tuesday & Thursdays - 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  6th grade Girls Team: Practice is Monday & Wednesday - 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please check the website for updates. Girls’ Club Volleyball: Girls who are interested in learning volleyball and who are going to try out for the MS VB Team we will be conducting practices. Practice is from 3 to 4:45 pm in the Front Gym on May 9 and 12. Tryouts begin on May 16th. For more information you can contact Coach Salter.

YEARBOOK: For those of you still wishing to purchase a yearbook, they are available for $40.00 (cash or check; made payable to CCMS), cash only. Yearbooks can be pre-ordered in front of 2nd hall at lunch or from Mrs. Vielman in room 210; no personal checks will be accepted. Yearbooks will be on sale while supplies last; so make sure you pre-order. Yearbooks will be distributed on Thursday June 2nd for those who pre-ordered; any remaining yearbooks will go on sale the following day at lunch.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: There will be a raffle drawing on May 31 for six $25 gift cards for all students who have participated in collecting box tops throughout the year, so get your box tops in now! The box is located in the Main Office.

CCMS PTSA MEETING: Please join us at the monthly PTSA meeting on Thursday, May 12th at 6:30pm in the middle school library. An Electives Department teacher will be here to present and answer any questions you might have. Hear about the latest happenings at CCMS from our own Dr. Gotanda! We welcome your presence and involvement!

CCMS STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK: CCMS will be celebrating Staff Appreciation Week to Friday, May 6th! On Friday, the PTSA will treat the staff to a lovely luncheon.  Drop off desserts in the office any time before 11am on Friday. Cash donations are always welcome. COLLEGE NIGHT: Please join us for College Night on Thursday, May 26 from 6:30 to 8:00pm in the Multipurpose Room. AVID will be selling pizza, cookies & soda before and during the event.

LUNCH FOR WEEK OF MAY 6 – 13: On Mondays, CCHS begins its lunch a little early so CCMS students need to make sure you get your food early as the cafeteria needs to be cleared and cleaned for the high school students. Doors will close at 12:15pm and the cafeteria will be cleared by 12:20pm. If you are inside by 12:15pm, you will be allowed to stay in line and get your lunch. Friday: BYO Baked Potato; Teriyaki Chicken w/ Unfried Rice. Monday: Pasta with Marinara Sauce; WG Garlic Cheese Toast; General TSO Chicken w/Low Mein Noodles. Tuesday: Turkey & Gravy w/Mashed Potatoes & WG Dinner Roll; Edamame or Teriyaki Chicken; Rice Bowl; Sausage Pizza. Wednesday: Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich; Oven Baked Potato Wedges; Hawaiian Meatball Bowl w/Brown Rice. Thursday: Baked Chicken w/Koos Koos; Panini sandwich Bar; Oven Baked Potato Wedges; Lover’s Pizza. Friday: BYO Nacho Bar; Homemade Cornbread; Orange Chicken w/Chow Mein Noodles; Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza, Fresh Garden Salad Bar and Milk served daily. Lunch is $3.00. To find out what lunch is for tomorrow, you can follow the “cclunchlady” on twitter every day BEFORE school. All food lines feature a selection of a fresh fruit & salad bar. A variety of fresh made salads and sandwiches will be available. You must take a minimum of ½ cup Fruit and/or Vegetables with every lunch. Water is NOT included with your meal. The cost for bottled is $1.00. Everyone must use their PIN when purchasing lunch – NO EXCEPTIONS! Vegetarian Items available daily!

BREAKFAST FOR WEEK OF MAY 2: Monday: Apple Frudel or WG Muffin. Tuesday: WG Pancake (2) & Turkey Sausage or Fruit & Yogurt Parfait with MJM Cracker. Wednesday: WG Cinnamon Coffee Cake or WG Pan Dulce. Thursday: Cinnamon Glazed French Toast; Breakfast Bean & Cheese Burrito. Friday: WG Super Donut; Turkey Sausage & Cheese Biscuit. Assorted Cereals, Fruit Juices and Milk; Bagel & Cream Cheese available daily.
