Students please remember next week we will be having presentations.

 

Step 1:  Choose a topic (any school appropriate topic that you would like to share with the class)

 

Step 2:  Create a 5 slide presentation on google docs.  No words (except for maybe a title)

 

Step 3:  Be ready to speak in SPANISH about your topic.  Presentations will start on Monday and end on Thursday.  

 

Reminder this is not for a grade!  Only for practice and for the love of learning and sharing!!!! 

 

One more week!!!

 

Attached you will see a slightly modified copy of a presentation created by a student today.  (Thanks, Tristan!)

Tomorrow we will have the opportunity to share some treats in class, if you decide to bring something, please make sure it is store bought and that you bring enough to share with at least about 10 students.

8TH GRADE PICTURE DAY:  8th Grade Promotion Pictures will be taken on Monday, May 1th during PE class. Please dress nice (dressy dress) boys a collared shirt no T-shirts, please. We will arrive early for the zero period. The students will be holding a diploma. Flyers will be sent home on Monday during 1st period, extra forms are available in the front office  .Promotion picture retake day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2nd at their studio located at 20406 Earl St, Torrance 90503.  It's by appointment only.  The appts are available from 4 pm to 6 pm in 15 minute increments.  We currently have 4:00, 4:30, 5:00, 5:15, 5:30 and 5:45.  First come, first served.  If these fill up and they have additional requests, they will extend the times available.  Please call directly to schedule an appt. 310-750-0259.

Students will have the opportunity to retake Unit 5 test.  

 

They must attend a mandatory tutorial on Tuesday during PAWs and must retake the exam on Thursday during PAWs.  If a students has a conflict with either date they must make alternative arrangements ASAP.

Reminder all 8th graders will be attending the College field trip on Monday March 6. 

 

This is a great opportunity!  

 

Here are a few reminders about what to expect so that you have a great time on Monday:

1.  You will report as usual to 1st period.

2.  You will be given a shirt to wear.  You MUST wear the shirt.

3.  You should bring lunch and water.  You will not be able to purchase lunch at the college you visit.  If you turned in a lunch request form, your chaperone will have your lunch.  

4.  Please do not bring school supplies, you will not need them.

5.  You may bring up to $20 in case there is time and chaperone/supervisors allow students to go into the student store.

6.  Students may bring phones to take pictures of the campus, but chaperone will determine appropriate times.

 

Please remember that there will be consequences, and those may include loss of 8th grade privileges, if you are not meeting high standards of respect and behavior.  

 

Please let me know if you have any questions.  As you know, I am not a chaperone, I am staying at CCMS with my 7th graders, but I wish you all a great experience.

On Monday and Tuesday we will be working on the "Primer congreso continental " pages and the Declaration of Independence pages.  You can prepare yourself this weekend by reading appropriate pages in the textbook, researching online and finding books about  it.

 

Also don't forget to complete the fist step of your unit project and know there may be a "pop" quiz on the declaration of independence on Monday / Tuesday.

This Sunday it will be open to the public from 11-3pm.  It is a great opportunity for us to learn more about Islam and our community.  For seventh graders it will be a great preview to out unit in Islam approaching and for eight graders a great review.  Attached you will find documents necessary to complete this extra credit assignment.  If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me.

It is important to read all information and follow all steps to get credit for this assignment.
