Students are working on their first class debate. The topic for the debate is a question: Do the benefits of getting a job as a police officer outweigh the drawbacks?

The question was based on a textbook debate assignment about European knights during feudalism. Students are assigned to a debate team and they know which side they are debating from (called "the affirmative or pro" or "the negative or con").

Some basic guidelines on how to do a debate were given in the form of two videos and the teacher's notes. Those videos and notes can be found by going to a  school webpage called CANVAS, and clicking the class period icon for Google Classroom.
