Welcome to Math 7! This class will focus on the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics which address Standards for Mathematical Practice and Content. In order to assure that students are learning the critical information they need to succeed at higher levels, the standards stress not only procedural skill but also conceptual understanding. The following list provides a general overview of the Standards for Mathematical Content:
● Number System
● Ratios and Proportional Relationships
● Expressions and Equations
● Geometry
● Statistics & Probability
I will be offering tutoring help after school on Tuesdays from 2:20 - 3:00 pm. Students are welcome to come for part of the time or the entire time depending on their needs.

CC9 Defense Packet

Here is some practice materials for CC9 (Surface Area & Volume). You must bring your CC9 Quick Check with test corrections made in order to defend this concept category. Defenses will be given during class on Tuesday, June 6th.

Defense Form - 2nd Semester

Students will have the opportunity to defend concept categories from the second semester to show mastery of the concepts. The new score will replace the original concept category score, regardless of whether your score goes up or down.

All students wishing to defend a concept category must show evidence of practice. Here are some examples of evidence:

  • Redo Goal Problems and Quick Checks related to the concept category you are defending. This is the BEST way to prepare! Be sure to check your answers with answer keys.
  • Online practice:,,,, etc. (print out a page for evidence)
  • Complete practice handouts found on Mrs. Borcherding’s website
  • Redo homework assignments related to the concept category you are defending
  • Come to tutoring (after school on Thursdays) and/or PAWs with Mrs. Borcherding

Readiness for Algbera

Students who have earned an "A" in Math 7 at the semester and the third quarter may request the opportunity to take a placement test at the end of the school year to determine readiness for placement into Algebra in eighth grade.  The placement test will be given after school on Thursday, June 1. Please note that this option will require additional study and preparation by the student as many of the standards required for Algebra are not taught in the Math 7 class. A packet of information is attached. Please email me ( for more information.

CC6 Test Practice

This folder contains the active practice, goal problems with answers, and homework worksheets from CC6 (Equations and Inequalities). The best way to study is to redo goal problems, correct your work, then complete the active practice from your areas of weakness.
