Social Studies 2017-2018 School Year

New Parent and Amazing 6th grade students:
This is s little introduction of myself with those students who will have me this school year.

Well from the beginning, I am a military brat and for the first 10 years of my life grew up in the south, from Mississippi to Illinois.

My first degree was in the field of Theatre Arts, with an Associates Degree (AA) from Santa Monica College, (S.M.C). I then transferred to U.C.L.A., (University of Californian at Los Angeles) graduating with a degree in Political Science,  and minor in American History.

My masters degree or graduate degree is from Pepperdine University in Education. I also have an Administrative Credential from Pepperdine as well. I Would like to get my doctorate BUT IT COST TOO MUCH.

My hobbies include reading, exercising, cooking, playing my guitar, and being with my wife and five young adult girls. Unofficially this is my 26th year and officially 25th year teaching at Culver City Middle School. (I  have loved every nano second being here.)

Previously during my tenure  I taught 6th grade math for two years, 8th grade American History for 3 years, and the rest goes to 6th grade ancient history and from 2000 until 2013 I was the A.S.B., (Associate Student Body)
student council, coordinator.

I want to thank all of Culver Cities, administrators, teachers, staff, security, parent, students and my family for being there in good and bad times.  It has been a blessing to be apart of such a great school district for that last 25 years.

Sincerely,
Rick Garcia
