FINAL Essay - Understanding US Civil War

 

*Please answer the following questions:

 

What caused the US Civil War? What advantages did the North and South have in the Civil War? How did their strengths and weaknesses affect their military strategies during the war? What were the major events of Reconstruction Era (post Civil War – 12 years)?

**Note Reconstruction helped set the pattern for future race relations and defined the federal government's role in promoting racial equality. **

 

In addition, victory for the North meant the end of the Confederacy and of slavery in the United States, and strengthened the role of the federal government. The social, political, economic and racial issues of the war decisively shaped the reconstruction era that lasted to 1877.

 

Please meet at the front of CCMS @ 7am.  Note the bus will leave campus @ 7:15am.

   They have individual chicken pot pies, grilled cheese, hot dogs and a sandwich called a Lord Sandwich.  It can be ordered in turkey, ham or roast beef.

Please have your notes (graphic organizer & Venn diagram) ready to study : ) In the quiz the students will be asked to identify the "6" Early American Identity (pg. 134) and recognize the effects of Great Awakening (pg. 139) and Enlightenment (pg. 140).

Unit 1 Practice Test is on Monday, Oct. 7th. Exam will be given on Tuesday, Oct. 8th for periods 1, 3, 5 and Wednesday, Oct. 9th for periods 2 & 6. Study packet already provided in class. Good luck!

Please note that that we have pushed back our deadline for the Newspaper Project : ) The final product (typed) is due on Wednesday, October 2nd for Periods 2 & 6, Periods 1, 3, 5 are scheduled to turn it in on Thursday, October 3rd.
