All assignments for Ch.11 Ancient Greece will be due. We are working on the Athenian Democracy DBQ and will answer the questions in class. Try to work on Document B, we will go over it in class if people are having trouble.

Write a 3-5 sentence summary of the notes taken in class, compare and contrast Sparta and Athens, give at least one example for each.

Finish the Map Practice for the Tribes of Israel. Make sure to write complete sentences.

Finish the chart we started in class about the 3 Kingdoms of Egypt.  Remember to annotate the reading first and make notes in the margins. We will go over it in class.

Students are to wait 24 hrs before writing the summary of the notes on Ch.6 Kush.

Remember late homework is not accepted, assignments are to be completed before students come to class.

Student should double check and make sure they shared their project with me, otherwise they will be missing a category in the grading and this will bring their grade down. Some students edited their project and forgot to share it again or if we had to go through your personal email for your presentation.

A Little History of the World-Evidence Based Terms

Ancient Egypt Research Project was assigned today. Students are to decide on what topic they would like to research from the suggestions provided. Many students have already chosen their topic and turned in their paper, Topics will be confirmed at our next meeting and we will begin researching. Please bring in any necessary resources (books, magazines etc.) that you may want to use.

Ch. 5 Packets will be due 1/7 & 1/8. Please check the Classwork list in class to make sure you have all the assignments and they are complete.

Students should have completed the "Land by the Nile" annotation and answered Questions 1-13 using S-S-Light Bulb (Big Idea) for their topic sentence and an Evidence based term from the suggestions on the worksheet.  We did the first four in class and many students completed the assignment on Thursday and Friday, but many had been absent earlier in the week.

It's that time of year! Please check you binders to make sure it is well stocked with supplies. Many students have run out of paper and working pencils and pens. Coming to class prepared is part of your work habits grade and its hard to be prepared without the basics.

Parents- Check your students Time Tracker, they should be entering in assignments EVERYDAY, if its blank how will they remember what is due? You can also see if your student is taking advantage of PAWs and getting help in any classes they find challenging.

Vocabulary Ch.3 Lesson 3 is due Thursday and Friday 11/5 & 11/6.  A copy of the worksheet is posted.

Vocabulary is due Monday, colored and highlighted. Students started in class- Parargraph answering question Was Sumer a Civilization, students may use their notes and the worksheet to answer the question. 

The paragraph requires four supporting statements of evidence (choose from the 7 Elements) and one example for each. The paragraph must be in complete sentences, punctuation and spelling counts. It may be typed and submitted before Monday, but the paragraph is due in class on Monday 11/2/15. It will be collected.

Finish the chart on the 7 Elements of Civilization. Do your best work, neat and thoughtful answers, coloring is optional, but always looks nice.

Vocabulary Ch.3L2 is due Monday 11/2/15. Review notes and write a brief summary.

Review your notes on the Geography of Mesopotamia and write the summary.

Please bring your Agricultural Revolution notes to class as we will refer to them often for Mesopotamia.

We will have a vocabulary quiz on Monday and the Unit Test will be on Thursday 10/15. Students were given a Study Guide today to let them know what will be on the test and resources for them to go over. Many were already done in class.

Students are to finish annotating the "The Greatest Inventors" and answer the questions on the worksheet. I've attached the guidelines for annotating to help break it down, please keep the handout in your folder for future reference.

These articles can seem overwhelming at first, but by breaking down the material each time its read, it is much easier to navigate. One step at a time.

Finish reading the article highlight all proper nouns and look up all words you circled. 

Here is the "Greatest Inventors" Text   just in case you need another copy. Remember to circle the words you are not familiar with in red pen ( or another color) and highlight or box the Proper Nouns. If you are comfortable with the material you can start writing the main ideas in the margins, but we will go over that in class.

The homework was a work sheet on Cave Paintings, students should read and answer the questions that follow. We will go over it in class and begin working on Cloze Reading to identify and pull out information from the text. Please be sure to bring it to class. If you were absent Monday, please be sure to come by and pick up the worksheet.

Vocabulary for Ch.1 Lesson 3 (artifact) was due on Monday, it was collected by the substitute and I will be returning it. Incomplete work should be completed before it is turned in before the test. HW Credit is given to those who turned it in on time.

Read the story on pg.6 of your textbook then answer the following question in 2-3 complete sentences. This is the question we didn't get to in class. Continue to work on your Vocabulary worksheet.

Complete the Vocabulary work sheet using the notes you took in class. Revisit your notes 24 hrs later and write a brief summary of your notes. We will practice revisiting notes and writing summaries to get in the habit of reviewing the work.

Geography packets went home, they need to be signed by a parent/guardian. Grades for the geography test are up in Aeries.

We will take our first test on Monday, Sept. 14. The test will be on Geography and students will be drawing a world map from memory and answering questions on the 5 Themes of Geography. I am attaching a couple of websites that the students can get some geography practice. Students should also review their 5 Themes of Geography Notes and their Warm Ups from class.

 

All work for Geography will be due on Monday before the test. Please make sure you have all 5 Warm Ups (questions attached), 5 Themes of Geography, and your World Map. All work should be complete, thoughtfully done and have first and last name. Use this work to study for the test.
