Hubo/Había un muchacho. El muchacho era/estaba inteligente y tímido. Tuvo/Tenía pelo castaño y ojos azules. Se llamó/se llamaba Nicolás. Nicolás tuvo/tenía 9 años. A Nicolás no le gustó/le gustaba la escuela. No le gustó/le gustaba porque la maestra era/estaba muy estricta en la clase.
Un día Nicolás tuvo/tenía mucha sed y bebió/bebía mucha agua de la fuente. Luego, tuvo/tenía que usar el baño. Le pidió/le pedía permiso a la maestra estricta para ir al baño. La maestra le dijo/le decía que no. El niño insistió/insistía porque era una emergencia. La maestra le grito/ le gritaba que no. Nicolás se asustó/ se asustaba e hizo/hacía del baño en sus pantalones. Todos los niños se rieron/ se reían de Nicolás. Nicolás se puso/se ponía muy triste.

4. Escribe un diario de tu semana 5 oraciones en español sobre: ¿Cómo estás? ¿Qué haces durante el día? ¿Cuáles son algunas buenas películas o programas de televisión que estás viendo ahora que te gusta? You can pretty much write about anything you’d like.. think it’s like a diary for me to understand how you’re currently feeling, what you’ve been up to. Anything that’s worrying you, anything that has been positive during the quarantine. Just 5 sentences.

To be clear, this is an easy 10 point assignment. I want to see if getting videos from you on gclassroom works and if online school continues then we will have more specific instructions and a rebric to guide you.

For this video look at it as an easy 10 points and that Ms. Burga misses you and wants to see your face!

1- How did the film add to, change, or alter you knew beforehand about Puerto Rican history, culture, language, etc.?

2- As the film opens, Negi is in her shed, crying as she looks around her front yard. Compare that with her arrival in Brooklyn and the next morning, when Negi looks at herself in the mirror as if completely changed. How do her surroundings affect Negi’s sense of identity? How does she feel about herself in each place?

3- Think of a time when you were in a different place — staying with a relative, summer camp, a former neighborhood. Write about how it felt to be in a new environment.

4- Look back at you definition of success. How would Esmeralda define success? What is her dream once she comes to Brooklyn? What is her friend Yolanda’s dream? What happens to each girl’s dream? By the end of the film, has Esmeralda achieved success? Why or why not?

You will be creating a 10 photo PowerPoint of what you did over winter break. You need to use 20 different verbs (2 sentences per slide/image). 10 of them must be IRREGULAR please color code. You must use 10 DIFFERENT verbs (no repeats)
You must have 3 slides be different pronouns that’s aren’t about you (ex: mi familia fue a Francia)
You must have 10 pictures of yourself doing these things or from the internet.

If I ask you want a word means and you can’t explain (aka you used google translate) you lose that point automatically

Dia de los muertos project

You will be creating a CALACA or skeleton (store bought is OK) but you need to make it be a famous Latino. Please look at the list and choose one. Have the paper signed by your parents and turned into me by next class.
Along with the Calaca you will need to make a CARD talking about where the person is from, why they are famous and interesting things about them. It's 5 points extra credit if in Spanish for Spanish 1 and MUST be in Spanish for Spanish 2.
LATE PROJECTS WILL NOT GET HIGHER THAN A C.

For this activity you will be using the notecards on Conjuguemos and be responsible for knowing all of the meanings of each of the verb.
You will have a quiz next Tuesday 10/8 on these verbs, meanings as well as the countries and capitals of Spanish speaking countries.
In class, copy down each verb and it's meaning in your notebook under "Gramática". once finished do 40 conjugations (correct) and get a 90% or higher, screenshot and turn in assignment.
