Welcome back to school, and just to let you know 50% of your zoom 6th grade career is now over. There are only 20 school weeks left of your 2020/2021 school year. This is from January to June just six months but a quick year nonetheless. Don't know about you but, WOW this school year has gone by so fast.

What we will be doing this week is continuing Ancient Egypt with Mummification, Gods (Story of how life began according to Egyptian Myth) , and the Israelites.

Book/Online Homework Lessons 11 and 12.
There will be two homework assignment this week. Lessons 11 and 12. The Origins of Judaism and, Learning About World Religions: Judaism.

Just remember, that the Online homework assignments has not changed. There is vocabulary to do, and then annotating the paragraphs on the worksheet. The red rectangular box where it says "Answer" The question is always in one sentence "what did you read ?"

On Monday and Tuesday Jan 4th and 5th
The 5 main gods of Egypt, their purpose and the Process of mummification and why the Ancient Egyptians believed in this way of preparing their dead.


Thursday and Friday Jan 7th ant 8th
The Story of How life began according to the ancient Egyptians starting with the supreme God named Ra. The Sun god. Having the head of a falcon and the body of a human, wearing the Sun Disk crown.

To all of my amazing and wonderful 6th grade students. This is your final test of Semester 1. This test will affect your 1st semester grade a lot, so all need to do well to get the grade your want. This test can be retaken, when you get back from Winter Break but, it will not change your 1st semester grade, but instead be reflected in your third quarter or 2nd semester grade.
All of you get one shot at taking and doing the best you can on this test.
Remember:
1. You may use your notes while taking this test
2. Do not be in a hurry answering question 1 to 30. Take your time
3. All questions must be answered
4. The questions to this test goes in Chronological order or from beginning to end.
5. No student may leave the zoom class until I have received your score.
6. Once the score in inputted all can see their semester grade.

Tomorrow, Saturday December 12, at 6:00 in that deadline in turning in all missing Online Classwork or home work. With the exception of the notes we are taking on the video we are watching everything else is due for 100% credit. When you turn the missing assignments I will give you credit, but after 6:00 all missing assignments will revert to a "0" :(

Remember to do all "Online assignments" first, then if there is time, do the "Online Homework" last.

What is happening December 14th to December 18th:

On Monday and Tuesday we will be finishing the Video Time Life's "Quest for Immortality," with all of the notes you will need to take the Quiz.

On Thursday and Friday we will be taking the Quiz on Time Life's "Quest for Immortality," you will be able to use your notes during the quiz and your final quiz grade will be used for your semester grade. This quiz is a one time deal with your 1st semester grade, so all need to do well on this quiz. It will great affect your grade, but no worries you will be able to use your notes, so all should get an "A."

If for any reason you do not do well on this quiz, you make take it over after Winter Break, but it will not change your 1st semester grade, but be used for your 3rd quarter grade.

Well, can you imagine that there are only two more weeks until the end of the 1st semester. 50% of your 6th grade career is almost over!!!! All I can say is WOW!!!!! All of you need to give yourself a pat of the back for braving these last 20 weeks on ZOOM, Bless all of you.

Just as a reminder your Egyptian book work lesson 8, 9 and 10 are due on Saturday December 5th, but, all missing assignments for this quarter is due by 6:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12th for full credit. What is happening the week of December 7th to the 11th
We will be watching and taking notes on the Time Life's Series on Ancient Egypt "Quest for Immortality". This will be similar to the notes we had taken for Time Life's "Return to Eden." When we finish the movie there will be a quiz, of which you will be able to use your notes during this quiz, so none of you need to FREAK out.

Just remember that on December 18th this is the last day of the semester, so I want all students to work their heart out in all classes to bring their grades up. These grades go in your permanent school record, and when we get back from winter break it will be the start of 3rd Quarter.

This will be an in class assignment we all will be doing together. This assignment will be started and completed in class. When all are done then you, individual student will turn it in for credit

We will be going over this story in class today. Just Like the story of Sargon, all students will be taking notes on the story of Gilgamesh then once finished in class turn in the notes for credit.

Well I hope and pray that all of you had a wonderful and family filled Thanksgiving. I know with the circumstances we are in now it was blessed. Just think we are only three weeks from Winter Break and the end of 1st semester. Wow even though we are on Zoom time is going by so fast. Maybe. just Maybe things will start to change in 2021. We will finish up Mesopotamia this week, Monday and Tuesday with the story of Gilgamesh, and then start Ancient Egypt, this Thursday and Friday. I put the Egyptian Homework assignments on Google classroom for all to see. This assignment Lesson 1, 2 and 3 will be due on Saturday December 5th.

The week of November 16th to November 20th:

As I told you earlier last week, 2nd quarter progress reports are due for teachers on Monday November 16th. I have already submitted those students who are getting a grade below a C, but those students missing assignments have this week end to bring up your grade. So my little padwans, try and turn in any missed assignments this weekend.

Remember we are taking a Quiz on the movie "Time Life's Return to Eden," on Monday and Tuesday during class. I asked all of you to please review the Note sheet we wrote in class, and if possible watch the video again with your notes to review.

Remember you will be able to use your notes during the in class quiz. If for any reason you do bad or get a low grade on this quiz you will be able to retake this quiz as many time as you like in order to get the grade you want. To retake this quiz you must do it before Thursday, December 10th. and only during office hours Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 1:30 to 2:00 pm or on Wednesday during PAWS/Student Enrichment period starting at 11:25 to 11:55.

On Thursday and Friday:

There are still some of you that have not turned in your 1st quarter midterm. This is an important test for your overall grade. All students who did not start or complete this important test need to at least give it your best shot and do it. There are still some of your who have yet to complete your lesson 4, 5 and 6 homework assignments as well as our in class maps on the Modern Middle Eastern and Ancient Mesopotamian countries. Those of you who have not completed these assignments need to do so to get credit.

Important Dates to Remember:
• Progress Reports will be given out to those students getting a D or below the week of December 1st
• The deadline to turn in and retake any quizzes or complete missing homework or online assignments is Thursday, December 10th, no later than
6:00 p.m. Anything turned in after the deadline will not be accepted.
• Your online Final will be December 17th and 18th, that last day before winter break. Remember this will be your semester grade and will go into
your permanent record.

1. The Vocabulary in the Worksheet is filled out in your own words. In your social studies book "History Alive The Ancient World", read the definition of
each vocabulary word, then on the worksheet, in your own words, give me your definition of what you read.

2. The rest of the worksheets is reading each paragraph, and in the box under the paragraphs where is says "Answer," you give me a one sentence

😊 BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT REMINDER!!!

Just as a reminder, this Wednesday September 23rd in our virtual Back to school night.  This event starts at 6:00 p.m., with “0” period.  Students do not need to attend, but I did send all of you a Zoom link just in case your parents did not get my request. Please remind all your parents wishing to attend this event that each classes period “0 to 6” will be 10 minutes long, with 7 minutes passing period so parents can link on to other teacher or periods.                

All parents, if they have not so far should have received and invitation from the District, and from each of your teachers too.  My Zoom class will be a continuous online link until my last class which is period 6. Teachers will introduce themselves and give information about their classes, assignments, homework, office hours and the best way to gen in contact with them throughout the school year.  For me, Can’t wait to see all your moms, dads, guardians, grandmas and grandpas.

This week we will be closing the topics of Geography and heading into the concept of Religion versus Science Method.  Believe it or not all of you have been introduced into a lot of new and mind-blowing concepts we will discuss in class. Attached will be a cheat sheet on Geography Big Bang Religion   Before we get into Ancient Man I will introduce all of you with the Concepts of Religion versus the Scientific Method.  Each of these play an important part in the rise of our know civilizations throughout our world.  Each of these cannot live without the other. The start of online homework assignments different than online class assignments. WAIT UNTIL I GIVE YOU INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DO THE ONLINE HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU START!!!           

  I will be giving the first chapter homework assignment to all students this week.  Just to let all of you know your homework assignments will be reading materials that are in your social studies book.  You will be annotating these homework assignments.  Do not freak out we will go over the way you will be accomplishing this in class.    These assignments are designed to force you to read and, give a one sentence description of what you have read.  At first it is time consuming but, I promise the more you do it the faster and quicker you will get.  We will go over this in detail during our zoom meeting.    

Any Attachments attached to Edlio may not work of Google Classroom but i will attach a hard copy anyways.  Make sure you download your work on Google Classroom just in case.

Ok Students thank you for baring with me. I have revised the world map geography worksheet. Because I was limited to what I could put on the map, I have take out some of the geographical locations I was hoping you would learn. Instead we will go over the locations in Class. For those of you who were able to download the original World Globe map and completed it either by printing it our or finishing it digitally you all will get full credit for your work.

Those of you who have completed the map you do not need to do this world globe assignment. For the rest of my students who were not able to download the map I have created another one a lot simpler for you to do. We will go over the map on Monday and Tuesday.

Again I am so sorry, it just very difficult attempting to create digital work assignments. This world map was created on Google Docs so everyone should be able to do this assignment. We will still have a quiz on Thursday and Friday, it will just be a lot simpler.

Okay, to all students i'm taking a leap of faith and starting out with a digital vocabulary worksheet. You will use your TCI online social studies book or your hard copy you should have received from the CCHS Library, a dictionary or your internet on your PC or Chrome Book.

We will go over what and how to do this work together in our Zoom meetings. Once the Vocabulary is finished you will be location all of the vocabulary on a digital Map of the world.

Students please go through this PowerPoint presentation about my class, and when finished take a short Survey quiz.

To all of my new incoming 2020-2021 6th grade students and parents,   A big and awesome welcome to your new phase in your young growing and developing minds and bodies.  Although this is not what I expected for the start of the new year. I am hoping and praying that this new distant learning model will only be short term and am looking forward to getting back into the classroom where I can make history come alive for all of you.  Until then we will have to endure this new model of learning the best way we can.   For the next week and a half all teachers will be introducing you in the different subjects what all of you are responsible for, and hoe we will be setting up this distant learning idea. 

As you already should have been researching the normal online school agenda is the following.
Periods 1,3 and 5 will be meeting on Mondays and Thursdays.  Supposedly 90 min block periods.  I will not keep you on Zoom for that amount of time 
Periods 2, 4 and 6 will be meeting on Tuesday and Fridays    Supposedly 90 min block periods.  I will not keep you on Zoom for that amount of time 

On Wednesdays will be what is called Enrichment for 35 min from 11:25 to 11:55

For me, there will be office hours on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:30 to help any student who need extra help, and on Friday there will be what is called "Fun Friday" from 2:00 to 2:30.  My class is Card playing, I'm still trying to figure this out myself.    I'II let all of you know how is goes.   A lot more will be explained during our first meetings this Thursday and Friday, so be a little patient :)  

Now I want to give all of my students and parents my cell number so that any of you can get in touch with me for any reason.  It is 310-871-3679.  Parents usually call me and students usually text me.  Either way is okay with me.  I would appreciate that no phone calls or texting should be done after 8:00 p.m daily, but other than that go for it.     Cant wait to see you this Thursday and Friday on Zoom

  Well my little chick a dee's, We have completed the first two days of school leaving a total of 178 school days left. Is that just incredible? :) Anyways here is a idea of what is happeining the week of August 24th to the 28th. As I mentioned as our last meetings, this week is an eye opener to CCMS school life and it going to continue. This is to get all of my new 6th grade used to what is happening and what you are responsible for being a Middle School Student at CCMS. Some of the topics are as follows 1. How to log on to Aries for all new students if you have not done so, so far. 2.Meet your school Counselors-Panther Prep A. Tell me something about you survey 3.Organize your self- Panther Prep 4. Digital Pride-Panther Prep 5. Zoom Netiquette-Panther Prep 6. How to be a Digital Panther 7. Google Survey. 8 . A Kahoot Exit Ticket   I will put Power Points on the Classwork, but we will be going over this material in class. Please do not go ahead and wait until class starts. Just to answer questions you may have. To all of my amazing and wonderful 6th grade students. Look at the quote above, read it, and try and understand its meaning.  Your ultimate success and happiness in life is up to you.  You are the painter, and with your brush you and only you will paint your life. I hope and  pray that your weekend was restful and fun with family and friends.  

So are you ready for Academics in school?  Well ready or not, here we go jumping in feet first.  We will be going over geography this week.  The first work assignment will be a Geographical Vocabulary digital worksheet.  Your job is to use your Social Studies TCI online book, or your hard copy I hope all of you got from the CCHS library.  Don't worry if you did not.  We will go over how to use the TCI "Histroy Alive " online book.  Just know, that if any definition of the vocabulary words are not in the book, you may use a dictionary, your ChromeBook, Personal laptop or Personal Computer via the internet.

I'm using a program called Padlet to do this digital vocabulary sheet.  You will be answering, and writing your definitions on the Padlet program, and when finished turn it in for credit.   When all of you are done with the Vocabulary worksheet you will be doing a Digital World map, and physically locating those vocabulary words. 


We will go over how to start and complete this assignment in our Zoom Class, so be patient.   I want to make it clear that geography is essential to understanding Ancient History.  All of you need to understand the physical locations of every civilizations we will be learning this year.  The first, and most important is understanding the geographical features of our world and its terminology.


Please do not try to do the work now, just because I have placed it on Google Classroom.  We will go over what your are  responsible for on Monday and Tuesday so be patient.
