International Walk to School Day is fast approaching - October 7 - and is the kick off for the Walk-Bike-Skate-Scoot Program at CCMS. In case you have not heard, the program is working! Over 130 bikes, skateboards and scooters are in the bike parking area each day So lets keep it rolling.
Incentives: New banners, pencils, stickers and water bottles are on their way. Later we will add t-shirts. We’ll get the banners up ASAP. The rest will be packed up as care packages and delivered, probably Monday.
Reflective tags: The first of 8 tags will be here in time to hand out next Wednesday. The key is for the kids to collect them all. If they do, they’ll be invited to a VIP party in June. We’ll create new posters and banners pushing this.
Grand Prize; For those who participate the most, PureCycles is again donating a bike for the grand prize!
Shoe Tags: For CCMS only, we will use student’s ID tags, not the shoe tags from last year. This should eliminate the “I don’t have it/I never got one” comments we got last year. The smart phone app works on the tags so we should be cool. But if it doesn’t, we’ll order tags for the next event. NOTE, the app no longer works on Android phones, though you can enter numbers manually.
Fliers: Attached is a flier for distribution around campus
Support: I’m in contact with CCPD and CCUSD Security with your plans so they can deploy as needed. Note, CCPD and CCUSD Security are happy to help within manpower limits and barring any emergency calls.
Faculty: To incentivize faculty into promoting this all year, the class with the most walkers/bikers each month will get to choose a prize for themselves. We have brunch certificates at the Culver Hotel and other cool stuff, so please get the word out!
