Assignment for Miniature Symphony Movement 1. Modest March in Google Classroom

Assignment for Miniature Symphony Movement 1. Modest March

You have 2 options for completing this assignment:

1. Take the SmartMusic test that is currently assigned. (Grade up to 90% possible).
-Or-
2. Follow the directions below and submit a video of you playing the entire assigned piece (Grade up to 100% possible).

Either grade will be recorded into SmartMusic and Aeries right after the due date. There will also be a one week late turn-in window.

How to make a video of yourself playing:

Please read all of the notes below and make sure you understand them before you begin making your music video.

1. Use the attached doc diagram to frame yourself and set up your smartphone or computer camera. Best to have a parent or adult in the home use their Smartphone or camera to make a video of you playing. If you are using a computer camera, your image will be in Landscape mode. That’s okay.
2. School clothes are fine to wear on the video. You don’t need to dress up.
3. Make sure your instrument is tuned before recording.
4. Remember to set the SmartMusic tempo listed in the assignment notes.
5. Use headphones so you can hear the SmartMusic playback but your video recording only picks up your video and sound.
6. Remember to turn on the “Accompaniment”, “My Part”, and “Metronome” settings to keep you on track and in tune.
7. If you are making a video, you do not need to press “record” on SmartMusic, just press “play” and play along with the music. The video camera will record you.
8. Play along with the music on SmartMusic.
9. Make sure to start the video a few seconds before you start SmartMusic and don’t stop the video until 5 seconds after the music stops playing.
10. Sit quietly, looking at your music, before and after the video.
11. Also sit quietly, looking at your music, while counting rests.
12. When you are done recording, Stop the video and watch and listen to it all the way through to make sure you are happy with it and want to send it in.
13. When you have completed a video you are happy with, please rename it with your period, name, and instrument.
14. You may then email it to me at [email protected] or attach it to the Assignment on your google classroom “classwork” tab.
15. If you are not sending in a video, you don’t need to send anything in on the “classwork” tab.
16. However, if you are not sending in a video, you must complete the SmartMusic assignment for your class and submit it in SmartMusic for a grade by the due date instead.
