Mrs. Borcherding has been teaching mathematics at Culver City Middle School since 2012 and has had the opportunity to teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math, including both grade-level and accelerated courses. In addition to teaching, she serves as the co-chair of the math department. Mrs. Borcherding holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Science from UC San Diego, a Single-Subject Teaching Credential from CSU Northridge, and a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education from Western Governors University.
Mrs. Borcherding is passionate about helping students make sense of mathematics by connecting concepts into a meaningful story rather than viewing them as isolated skills. She has loved math since childhood because it is similar to solving a puzzle: something that may not make sense at first, but becomes clear through thoughtful strategies, persistence, and careful reasoning. Her goal is to help students build confidence in their problem-solving abilities and understand not only how to do mathematics, but why it matters.
