Welcome to Math 7! This class will focus on the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics which address Standards for Mathematical Practice and Content. In order to assure that students are learning the critical information they need to succeed at higher levels, the standards stress not only procedural skill but also conceptual understanding. The following list provides a general overview of the Standards for Mathematical Content:

● Number System
● Ratios and Proportional Relationships
● Expressions and Equations
● Geometry
● Statistics & Probability

I will be offering tutoring help after school on Mondays from 2:30 - 3:00 pm. Students are welcome to come for part of the time or the entire time depending on their needs.

IXL

Exciting news! All students now have a subscription to IXL for math practice. Students will be learning how to use IXL for practice during class time, but students are also encouraged to use it at home for additional practice or review of past concepts.

IXL is designed to help your child learn at his or her own pace. The program is adaptive and will adjust based on your child's demonstrated understanding of the material. All of your child's results will be saved, so you can monitor his or her progress anytime by clicking on Analytics. For on-the-go practice, you can download IXL’s free tablet apps for iPad, Android, or Kindle and sign in with your child’s username and password.

I hope you'll encourage your son or daughter to use IXL regularly. Here is how to access the website:

1. Go to www.ixl.com/signin/culvercityms

2. Username: First Initial Last Name
              Ex.   John Smith = jsmith

3. Password: Student ID Number

4. Search any topic or grade level and get started!

All students received their login information during class time. Please feel free to email me at laurenborcherding@ccusd.org with any question.

CC2 (Rational Numbers) Defense

You will have the opportunity to defend CC2 (Rational Numbers) to show mastery. The new score will replace the original concept category score, regardless of whether your score goes up or down.
