Remember - this is actually last week's assignment that I gave you an extension on due to state testing.  You only need to do this ONCE.
Choose one of the 14 videos on the website Foundation for a Drug-Free World. The videos are from a short documentary series called "Real People - Real Stories". In your summary you will tell me the following.  The synthetic drugs video is pretty rough to listen to because there are some really sad stories so if you are sensitive to these issues, I recommend another one. So, in your summary, tell me:
1. The title of the video
2. The type of drug(s) that the video spoke about and what it does to your body.
3. Share two people's stories about how they got addicted and how it affected their lives.
4. Share 1-2 facts you learned from the video that you did not know beforehand.

This week you have a choice.  You can do either of these things:
1) Compare and contrast the three types of smoking we discussed in class (cigarettes, vaping, and marijuana) and discuss the dangers of each one.
OR
2) Make an anti-smoking campaign poster. (see MANY examples on slides number 40-52 in this week's slideshow or one sample below).

Please view the two SHORT videos posted on this PBS page and answer these three questions:
1) What did you know about alcohol use / abuse before we discussed alcohol use in this unit (last week and today)?
2) What are the most surprising facts you've learned so far?
3) Do you have any questions about alcohol use / abuse that we didn't answer?
Please submit your answers on a google doc and share with me.

Write at least one paragraph about your thoughts on the following:
1) Why teens turn to alcohol and drugs?
2) How you think they might be persuaded NOT to use them?  Do anti-drinking / anti-smoking campaigns work?
3) What advice you would give to a friend who was considering drinking or taking drugs?

Please make a copy of this doc and answer the questions.  Note, there were originally 35 questions but I eliminated 5 because they were geared towards high school / college students.  This is meant to be done in person, by taking steps forward and backwards but we will just give ourselves ONE point for every "no" answer.  So, a "yes" = zero points, and "no" equals one point. Add your points to see how privileged you are.

Please read the directions on this doc carefully.  The article you choose can ONLY be from the last 3 months.

This must be done during class time today.  If you were absent, you are exempt from doing this.  If you are present, you must get this done DURING class time... not before class, not after class.  Again, you will NOT get credit for doing this before or after our zoom.  This must be done during our zoom ONLY.

Please really think about these questions and answer. You can make a copy of the doc and write on it or start fresh - whatever is easier. Please write in complete sentences. You will not get full credit for 1-3 word answers.

Please answer these question about bullying prevention. Make a copy of the doc, then write on it and turn it in.

On a Google Doc which you will submit HERE, tell me the following:
1) Have you ever witnessed bullying or harassment at CCMS?
2) If yes, please tell me where/ when / what / it was about.
3) Tell me how you felt and responded to the bullying / harassment.
4) Tell me if you think you'd respond differently now.
5) Tell me if you think any bullying is happening, including cyber bullying, even though we're not on campus.
If you have NOT witnessed bullying on campus, write about a situation off-campus or in the news.

Please do this AFTER our lesson today.

1) Make a copy of this doc and rename it with your last name and "9 questions". So for example, mine would be "Gable, 9 Questions"
2) Answer the nine questions yourself and then ask someone else the same 9 questions and write down their answers.
3) Turn the doc in here.

On a Google Doc, please tell me about a hero in your life. This can be a family member, a sports hero, a community leader, a YouTuber/Influencer - ANYONE you look up to and admire. This hero CAN be fictional if you can explain why they are your hero. Please write approx one paragraph and tell me the following:
- Who this person is (name) and what they do.
- Do you actually know this person or are they more of a celebratory or idol of yours.
- Tell me THREE things about this person that you admire.
Feel free to write more but one paragraph is sufficient for this assignment.

Create an Identity Map using the examples provided. See example provided here for your topics and see slide #19 in this week's slideshow for examples of what I'm looking for.

After class, please answer these two questions.
