If you were absent/ at 5th grade orientation you do not have to make up any of the work, just make sure you make time to review conditional tense (use and conjugations) and rubric for impromptu speeches.

I wanted to formally announce to all students and parents that our 4th period class was able to raise the most funds for the Pennies for Paradise campaign.  For that reason ASB will be hosting a party for us this Friday.  I do not know all the details, but we will have to modify our schedule a bit to accommodate.  Thanks to all students and families for your generosity!!!!

 

As you know CCMS is now hosting anython, a fundraiser to raise funds for important programs at our school.  Each night there are different challenges that the students can complete for prizes.   We are also grouped in our 4th period classes, so MAYBE, just maybe we can repeat some victories!  Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about this fundraiser. (and I will try to help you find the answer, from what I hear as a school a significant amount of money has been raised already, but we are 1/4 of the way from our school goal!)

 

 

Bring your copy of Cajas de Carton to class every SLA class.

Please try to secure a copy by this date.  You may check it out from the library, but if you can buy a new or used copy, it would help with annotations and to make sure you have it as long as you need it.

I've started listening to the oral histories and they are amazing!  I've heard about life in Nogales, Arizona and the transnational experience of its people.  I've heard about growing up in the Patagonia region and vacationing in Brazil.  I've heard about an El Marino teacher and her professional journey.    

 

It is my first time doing this project and there have been a few hiccups, thanks for your patience.  For those of you still working on sending me the audio, please don't panic!  We will figure it out, remember I am counting your turn in date as the date you bring me your printed transcript.  If you are having any issues, we will resolve them as we go.  I will try to help out a few students tomorrow and then continue next week after my training.  Thanks for all your hard work and I hope you found your interview as inspiring as I am finding them!

Last day to bring in your donations for the Pennies for Paradise Campaign. 

 

Paradise is a small town in Northern California in the Sierra Nevada Foothills.  On November 8, 2018, a major wildfire, the Camp Fire, destroyed most of Paradise city. Nearly a hundred people altogether died in the Camp Fire, while tens of thousands were displaced, and tens of thousands of buildings were destroyed, including 90% of the cities school district. It was the most destructive fire in California history.

 

CCMS this year will be fundraising for Paradise Intermediate School. We are here to support them and help them get back on their feet, but we need your help. Each 4^th period class will have a small box in their room to collect Pennies, loose change, cash or checks for Paradise Intermediate School.

Collection will begin: Monday, Jan. 14^th-Wednesday, Jan. 30^th.

 

The 4^th period class that raises the most money for Paradise will receive a reward. CCMS, it’s our turn to give and make Paradise get back on their feet.

Students should complete the following handout. 

 

Please make sure to complete it carefully and follow ALL directions.

 

Also, please make sure to color your drawing and write your resolutions in pen.

 

Quiz:  preterit and imperfect tenses. 

 

You should be able to conjugate:

Regular verbs in the imperfect and preterit form.

Conjugate ir, ser, ver in imperfect form.

 

Be able to decide when to use imperfect or preterit tense.

 

Quiz:  Tener/ Estar / Ser conjugations in the present tense, as well as proper usage.

 

 

Here is an example of what the quiz will look like.  There is also a section for correcting mistakes. 

 

For example, a sentence may read.  Ella es 5 años de edad.  Students will correct to, ella tiene 5 años de edad.

 

There's an answer key, please don't use it until you try it on your own.

Please bring your book for the semester project to class on Monday.

 

If you haven't done so, please make sure to email me your two questions with answers.

 

Be ready to read your story tomorrow.

Second draft of -ir and -er verbs in the present tense story due in class (hard copy).

 

If neither student has a printer at home, you may stop by during lunch on October 9th so that you can have a printed copy for class on Wednesday.  If you do not have it in class, you will not be able to work on the in class corrections and you will miss a great opportunity to get feedback from teacher/peers.

 

 Your story must have at least 3 characters and the verbs must be conjugated for at least three different pronouns. 

 

 

Final drafts must be typed using MLA style and will be read in class on Wednesday Oct. 17, 2018.
