Math 6 FINAL EXAM: Thursday May 29th or Friday, May 30th. It will include learning targets from all 5 units covered this year. Use your learning target logs (and scores on AERIES) to determine areas in which you need to practice. Start preparing for the test now and do not wait until the last minute!

We are now starting Unit 5 - Expressions and Equations - which will be our last unit of the year for Math 6. Also, last week we sent home an important letter regarding math placement for 7th grade (attached below). Students will have two possible options - Math 7 and Math 7 Accelerated. Students will take a placement test during class on May 6th/7th and teachers will send home their recommendation in the coming weeks. Please contact me after you receive your child's placement if you have questions.
Have a wonderful and relaxing spring break! There is no homework over vacation, however, if you have topics you know you need to study them, you should be studying. There will be several Unit 3 questions on the Unit 4 Test in April.
We are now studying Unit 4 - Rational Numbers. Here are some websites to practice from.

Unit 3 Test: We will have the Unit 3 Test on Ratios & Rates on Thursday March 13th and Friday, March 14th. Please look through your child's Learning Target Log and Quick Check scores on the AERIES Parent Portal to find the areas where they need to focus their studies. If your child is getting 1's or 2's on any learning target, encourage them to study for the test by looking through their notes, redoing quick checks and homework, or using any of the online resources listed below.
I will be available for tutoring after before school each day from 7:50 - 8:15 and Ms. Borcherding is available on Wednesday after school in Room 136.

We are now starting Unit 2 - The Number System!! The new learning target log was distributed in class this week and is posted below.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to the 2013-2014 School Year!! I am looking forward to meeting new 6th grade students on the first day of school, August 26th, 2013 and parents at Back to School Night on Thursday September 19th, 2013. I am very excited to begin the new school year.
This year Math 6 will focus on the Common Core Standards. We will be studying the major topcs of statistics and probability, the number system, ratios and proportions, expressions and equations, and geometry.
The following materials are recommended for Math 6:
* One large 3-ring binder that will be used for all academic classes. Using a divider, one section in the binder should be labeled “Math.”
* A spiral notebook
* Materials bag with sharpened pencils, several colors of pens, highlighter, handheld pencil sharpener or pencil lead, and a white board marker
6th grade math placement at CCMS is done strictly by placement test. The placement test was given in the spring at all 5 CCMS elementary schools and for students new to district by appointment. However, the placement test will be given for the final time on Wednesday August 28th at 2:30 sharp in Room 121. Students who wish to take the placement test should arrive promptly and be prepared with a pencil and an eraser. The test should take about an hour.
The Statement of Success for Math 6 and the Learning Log for Unit 1 are attached below. Please feel free to review these documents for more information and details about Math 6. Again, I am looking forward to a fun and productive year of math and I am looking forward to meeting each of you.
Sincerely, Ms. Vandever
Could not find any upcoming assignments due.
