Voicestra Choir (Period 3)

Course Description

Welcome to Voicestra Choir! I am looking forward to an exciting, musical year. In order for our choir to sound its best, each of us needs to contribute to the best of our ability. The goals, expectations, and procedures outlined below will allow us to reach our fullest potential as a performing ensemble.

Course Description:

The goal of the choral program is to produce students who are knowledgeable about music, have developed listening skills, can perform successfully with confidence, and can operate and cooperate within a structured framework. Students are not expected to become virtuoso musicians. Students are expected to establish both short and long range goals for vocal improvement, and to develop the skills and tools necessary to become life-long independent musicians and learners. In choir, students gain knowledge and skills in proper vocal technique, unison and two, three, or four-part singing, music reading, notation, terminology, ear training, critical analysis, and music history. Students perform a varied repertoire of music in different languages, cultures, and stylistic periods. For further information, please see the California State Music Content Standards here.

Hi awesome CCMS Choir Singers!
I will be having office hours tomorrow (Thursday) from 11am-2pm for students to check in and complete pass-offs, ask questions, etc. Today I used a Google Hangout (which you can still access until 3 pm today, Wednesday 3/18) for connecting virtually. Tomorrow (Thursday, 3/19) I will do a Zoom call from 11am-2pm.
Please be sure to check Google Classroom for all assignments this week! You should have received emails about joining the CCMS Voicestra or Singing Panthers Google Classroom. You have several listening assignments and two online quizzes to complete before this Friday at 3:00 pm. Be sure to stay on top of your work even when you are at home! Be safe, and stay healthy--and keep singing!

Please check your email for your Google Classroom invite!

Dear CCMS Choir students,
You should have received an email from me in your school email this morning inviting you to join Google Classroom. I also emailed your families (and you) to invite you to join Google Classroom. During distance learning this week, we will all be using Google Classroom (or Canvas) at CCMS to post and turn in assignments.
Please reach out if you have any questions or trouble signing on to Google Classroom. Stay healthy, and keep singing!
Best,
Ms. Koplinka-Loehr
